DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE

University of Puerto Rico.

Rio Piedras and Mayagüez, PR., 1969 - 1976

During my tenure as Associate Professor, teaching Statistics, Computer Science, and Mathematics, I established a reputation as an innovative and stimulating teacher with high standards which my students worked hard to meet. I resigned my tenured UPR position in 1976 to continue my career at Digital.

Mayagüez campus, UPR

1994-present

After leaving McGaw, I have been teaching again at the Mayagüez campus on an interim basis. Since there are no regular positions available at this time, I am looking for other opportunities.

McGaw of Puerto Rico, Inc.

Sabana Grande, PR, 1993 - 1994

I joined McGaw to lead the MRP implementation effort. As Information Systems Project Manager, I organized a team of young professionals to lead the implementation of a Manufacturing Resource Planning system. The project was canceled by corporate management due to the emergence of other priorities. At that time I resigned in recognition that my expertise was no longer needed.

Digital Equipment Corporation.

San German and Aguadilla, PR and Maynard, MA, 1976 - 1993

Over the course of 17 years, I served as Process Control Engineer, Quality Assurance Manager, Materials Systems Analyst, Long Range Planning Manager, Materials Systems Manager, and Consultant to the Materials, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments.

My responsibilities always had a common thread, problem solving, especially those involving the use of information systems. That led to participation in a team charged with replacing the existing Material Requirements Planning system with a Manufacturing Resource Planning system which required that many professionals learn new ways to do their jobs. The leadership of the Master Scheduling task force was mine from the start. Later I assumed coleadership of the total effort.

As co-leader of the system implementation teams in both the San German and Aguadilla plants, I established a reputation as one of the most effective educators, troubleshooters, and team leaders that my colleagues had experienced for professionals of any discipline. Both teams achieved the Class-A ranking per the judgement of an outside consultant.

When Digital closed its operatations in Puerto Rico, I took the early retirement buyout I was offered.

University of Michigan, School of Public Health.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1963 - 1969

While completing my doctoral studies, and for several years afterwards, I enjoyed a joint appointment as Senior Biostatistician for the Tecumseh Community Health Study and as Assistant Professor of Biostatistics. My major contribution to the TCHS was the management of the conversion of data files from punched card technology to magnetic tape and disk storage and computer processing. I was co-chairman of a committee of the Department of Biostatistics charged with selecting computing components for its laboratory facilities.
